WHAT IS IT?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) also referred to as “Photo Facial” is a skin rejuvenation treatment that can be administered to any part of the body, most commonly the face, neck, chest and hands. It uses specific wavelengths to target pigment in the skin. It works by reducing or eliminating signs of aging in the form of vascular and pigmented lesions, leaving the skin more even toned and textured with a more youthful, radiant appearance. IPL can also stimulate collagen growth to give the skin a plumper appearance.
IPL is a quick, safe and non-invasive treatment. No significant downtime is required. Typically, there is very minimal swelling and/or redness initially following the treatment. Your skin can feel and look warm, much like a mild sunburn. This usually subsides within a few hours. When treating brown lesions, the lesions may get darker before they get lighter. A crust-like scab can form but will eventually slough off, taking excess pigment with it. You can return to normal activities and even apply makeup immediately following the treatment. IPL can be performed every 3 weeks.
