Injectables

summerlin las vegas botox med spa chic la vieAs we get older, our skin loses its elasticity. This is primarily due to the elastin and collagen in the connective tissue of the skin breaking down, causing unsightly wrinkles and drooping or sagging. It can be compounded by a variety of other factors, such as sun exposure, extreme weight loss, and even smoking.  If you have facial wrinkles and drooping skin, you may be a good candidate for injectable facial fillers.

The primary purpose of injectable facial fillers is to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and to increase tissue volume. This gives the skin more fullness, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Many patients also look for lip injections for fuller, plumper lips.

TYPES

There are many types of injectables available, but the most common and well-known is botulinum toxin type A, known by most as Botox®. Chic la Vie offers three main forms of botulinum toxin – Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport – with each providing a unique set of cosmetic benefits.

The other type of injectable is a dermal filler, like Juvederm and their various syringes. Used for lip injections, fill in the fine lines and add volume. They can be comprised of a number of ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite, and poly-L-lactic acid. Your Provider will determine which type of dermal filler is best for you based on your individual needs.

USES

Botox® and its counterparts are perhaps most well-known for its role in reducing the signs of aging. These include crow’s feet (wrinkles in the corner of the eyes), forehead frown lines (also known as “number 11”), and forehead wrinkles, among others.

Injectable fillers can also be used to reduce lines in lips and as lip injections to make them more voluminous; fill depressions around the cheeks and lips; reduce the appearance of scars; and eliminate lines on the throat, colloquially known as “turkey neck.”

PREPARATION

In addition to providing a general health assessment to ensure you’re healthy and eliminate any risk factors or potential complications, our expert injector will go over the process with you in detail and answer questions you may have about the procedure.

TREATMENT

Treatment is typically done as an outpatient procedure, though dermal fillers often require a lengthier and more in-depth process. Depending on the type of injectable you’re receiving, the procedure can last anywhere from 10 minutes (for Botox) to an hour (for dermal fillers).

RECOVERY

Botox injections typically require little to no recovery time. Some minor bruising at the site of the injection may occur, though this can be easily concealed with makeup. The full effects can be seen within two weeks and will last anywhere between three and six months. With dermal fillers, the desired result is seen almost immediately and depending what area and product used, you can expect a lasting result anywhere from 6 months up to 2 years.
